Get your mixing bowls and cake tins ready for the Wandsworth Bake Off as the popular event is back for another year and is searching for the borough’s star baker.

Local HIV charity Wandsworth Oasis and community radio station Wandsworth Radio are putting on the baking competition on Saturday 19th September 2015 at Northcote Records in Northcote Road, Battersea.

Three local celebrity bakers will be judging the competition including Tooting based Dan Lepard who is a judge on TV’s ‘The Great Australian Bake Off’. He’s excited to be judging Wandsworth’s own version for a second year. He’ll be joined by Marion Piffaut from the Biscuiteers Boutique which has recently opened on Northcote Road, and Baker of the Year (2015 Farm Shop & Deli Show AwardsDee Gill who set up and runs the popular Dee Light Bakery in Balham.

Entry is open to all home bakers of any skill level who need to pre-register by filling out an application form. They’ll be six categories:

  • cake
  • cup-cakes
  • tray-bakes
  • bread
  • biscuits
  • a full afternoon tea.

The judges are also looking for 7 to 11 year olds and 12 to 16 year olds to take part by creating any bakes they like such as cupcakes, a tasty tray-bake or biscuits.

If you want to take part, entry is £5 per category, or £10 for three categories. For juniors, it’s £5.

Last year 30-year old Jade Ripley from Earlsfield won the STAR BAKER prize with her lemon meringue cup cakes.

Prizes will be handed out on the day for the best in each category and the STAR BAKER trophy will be awarded by the judges. All bakes will then be sold with all the money going to Wandsworth Oasis and Wandsworth Radio.

This year the whole event will be broadcast LIVE on Wandsworth Radio at WandsworthRadio.com or on the TuneIn app for smartphones.

For an application form, email info@wandsworthradio.com or pick up a form in any Wandsworth Oasis store.
