Tooting Treasures at Work and Play Scrapstore!
Work and Play Scrapstore – the re-use charity in Tooting, SW London – is brimming full of amazing new stock!
Green-minded companies have been busy donating what would otherwise be their waste for Scrapstore to re-purpose and upcycle and the results are an eclectic range of art, craft, design and play materials. In doing so, Scrapstore diverts on average 50 tonnes from incineration and landfill each year.
Scrapstore’s premises on Blackshaw Road is groaning under weight of ribbons and buttons, tissue and wrapping paper, jewellery and braids, fabrics and coloured acetate, paper and wood, foam and fine wire, bubble wrap, wondrous props, cushion covers, fake fur, velvet fabric and fancy-dress costumes. Stock changes each week as donations flood in.
Those gearing up for school productions will find the large rolls of blackout fabric ideal for stage backdrops while rolls of brightly-coloured glitter paper will add a sparkle to any production.
In readiness for October 31st, a Halloween display takes pride of place in the centre of the store, with ghoulish masks and an array of items in the traditional colour palette of black and orange including paper, beads, felt and fabric.
Annual membership of Scrapstore starts from as little as £30 per year for a student, which entitles them to visit twice a week throughout the year and collect whatever takes their fancy.
