Nearly 3,000 people listened to Wandsworth's new local radio station in its first month.

The internet only station welcomed 2,941 unique listeners on its website and on the mobile phone radio listening app TuneIn since launching on January 12th.

Station Director Jason Rosam said, "I'm so pleased and proud of the hard work and commitment of the hundreds of volunteers who prepare and present interesting programmes every week dedicated to the people of Wandsworth. For a small community station to achieve these audience figures with very little publicity is incredible."

One of the most popular shows is Live and Local, a 3 hour programme on Wednesday nights from 9pm which showcases unsigned and undiscovered local singers, songwriters and bands presented by James Bradbury.

Julia Bright's Classical Wandsworth every Tuesday at 8pm is also seeing large numbers logging on to listen to relaxing music.

The highest audience figures are reserved for the weekend when Wandsworth Radio has a mix of fun, music, chat, local news and information with programmes made by Tooting theatre group Blackshaw, the students of the local World Heart Beat Music Academy, and an hour of local sport on a Sunday lunchtime along with specialist music shows including drum and bass, old school hip hop, jazz, dance, soul and the latest sounds from Bollywood.
 

A number of local businesses have already decided Wandsworth Radio is a hit and have signed up to advertise on the station with commercials being produced in house by the production team.
