Tooting is full of charities, community groups and non-profit organisations. We’d like to support them and the amazing work that they do by sharing their details to our readers. If you’d like to get involved with them as a volunteer or perhaps make a donation, then please contact them directly to have a chat!

We’re always looking for new groups to support – if you’re a charity or community group based in Tooting, and would like regular, free support in spreading the word about your work (and being added to the list below) then please email tooting@localnewsie.co.uk for further details.
 


The Balham and Tooting Community Association (BATCA)
Bringing our diverse community together through organising events that appeal to all, such as fun days, sports tournaments and local heroes awards. Members include faith bodies, business, voluntary groups and the public sector.

Provides projects and develops non-formal education skills and community cohesion for young people through training and overseas volunteering opportunities.

Supports refugee and asylum-seeking families and helps them to play their full part in the community.

Deaf Hope

DeafHope (by SignHealth) is the only domestic abuse support available to deaf families in sign language. Providing support to many deaf women and children weekly, they also run preventative workshops in schools throughout the year.

A group of neighbours in the Furzedown area of Tooting, who decided to get together and raise money for local causes affecting those close to them.

Aiming to make Furzedown a more sustainable place to live by reducing reliance on traditional resources. Promoting energy efficiency, sustainability, the environment, health and wellbeing, and supporting communities.

The Furzedown Project
Overcoming social isolation amongst older people by providing a friendly meeting place and challenging, stimulating activities promoting fitness, friendship and fun. Also offers a minibus and a befriending service for people who find it difficult to leave home.

Making a free 3-course meal from reclaimed food  every Friday for the local community. Their aim is to bring people together to enjoy a healthy, delicious meal, meet new people and help reduce food waste.

Little Village
Established by a group of local parents in Tooting. Little Village provides good quality baby clothes and equipment, donated by local families, to local families who need the kit but can’t afford to buy it.

Supporting St George’s and Queen Mary’s Hospitals in south west London, creating extra equipment and facilities, and helping to improve the patient experience.

Neighbourhood Network SW12 & SW17
A community group run by and for people living or working between Balham and Tooting Bec. Together, they hope to extend and strengthen links to form a more cohesive community, reaching out to everybody in the neighbourhood.
