Free fixing of electricals with ReStart
Do you have an electrical or electronic item that needs fixing and don’t want to have to throw it away?
The Restart Project, a London-based social enterprise that encourages and empowers people to use their electronics longer, are running regular “Restart Parties” in Tooting this year (after successful sessions last year and this year) in partnership with Transition Town Tooting (TTT). The sessions allow local residents to learn how to fix their broken electrical equipment – all for free. Sound interesting? Then head to one of the events below:
Restart Parties at Mushkil Aasaan, 220 - 222 Upper Tooting Road, SW17 7EW (next to Nandos):
- Saturday 11th July: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
- Saturday 26th September: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Do note that Restart Parties are a community self-repair space where you take responsibility for your own gadgets and data, so please do not forget to take any back-ups beforehand, if relevant. Also:
- Please arrive during the first TWO HOURS.
- Please bring devices charged AND their power leads/adapters.
- Please do not expect ReStart to have spare parts or replacement mobile screens. This is not a free repair shop, it’s a pop-up community event! Often people attend twice, once to get advice on what part to buy and a second time to repair.
TTT hope to make Restart Parties a regular feature in Tooting and are on the lookout for skilled local fixers. If you are interested come along and say hello, or email Hilary Jennings on transitiontowntooting@gmail.com
