Broadway Market opened in 1936 and is the largest indoor market in southwest London. It contains over 100 units, selling a vast array of goods.
Want a freshly-brewed coffee? Need all the ingredients for your Sunday roast? Hankering after some new clothes or some beautiful fabric? Perhaps you’re thinking about getting a pet? Broadway Market caters for all these needs, and many more!
White’s Fisheries, a family-run business, have had a stall at Broadway Market for over 50 years. Charlie White loves talking to his customers, both old and new. He says, “Broadway Market is a fantastic place to be every day as you see all kinds of people from Tooting. We’ve got regulars stretching back for years, and we’re always happy to chat to our customers about what fish and seafood we’ve got coming in.”
A more recent addition is the Pedal Back Café, where you can enjoy excellent coffee, a great selection of sourdough toasties from a local baker, and artisan cakes baked right here in Tooting – all while Big Dave fixes or tunes up your bicycle! Ria, who co-runs the café says: “Being a SouthWest London thoroughbred, I grew up regularly visiting the indoor markets of Brixton, Balham and Tooting and have fond memories of the randomness and diversity. We view Broadway Market as the spine, running through the centre of Tooting holding together its diverse, independent community under one roof. If you want a piece of London, you've got it right here and it has stood strong for nearly 80 years serving Tooting.”
The market also hosts a butcher’s, many clothing and fabric stalls, a huge luggage stall, a reggae shop and much more. Why not pop in and see what treasures you can find?
Broadway Market is open 9.00am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday, and Bank Holidays. There are two entrances on Tooting High Street and another on Longmead Road.
