Alan Coles to ride 300 miles in 24 Hours!
Local osteopath Alan Coles will be riding 300 miles in 24 hours from Newcastle to London on Saturday 22nd August to raise money for The Furzedown Project.
Over 400 riders will be taking part in the Ride 24 Newcastle to London. The ride begins in Newcastle on Saturday 22nd Aug between 11.00-11.30 am, and finishes at London Spitalfields Market on Sunday 23rd at the same time the riders started (hopefully)! The ride is broken down into 7 stages, each about 40 to 50 miles long. In between there are organised pit stops with refreshments, first aid, bike repair, toilets etc.
Alan is raising money for The Furzedown Project on Moyser Rd in the Furzedown region of Tooting. The money will be going towards their health and fitness programmes to pay for some of the staff in this field, ie falls prevention classes and meditation. The money will also buy more equipment used for this purpose, such as mats and props etc.
Sponsorship forms are available at Streatham Osteopaths (Alan’s practice) and also at The Furzedown Project. There is also a LocalGiving page: http://localgiving.com/charity/furzedownproject.
Alan has done other endurance events such as Lands End to John O’Groats (over 10 days) and has also cycled over the Pyrenees from Biaritz to Perpighnon in 7 days. However, this is by far the longest endurance ride he has done in one go!
Good luck Alan! We’ll be reporting on his ride as soon as he gets his breath back!
