Charity Peace Event in Tooting
An event will be held in Tooting this Friday to promote the upcoming annual Charity Walk For Peace.
This event, held for the last 28 years, has been organised to benefit various charities that provide practical help and support to vulnerable people.
In the past five years, the charity has raised 1.3 million pounds. The collected funds have been donated to 136 local, national and mayoral charities.
The charity’s aim is to relieve the suffering of the poor, to promote peace, understanding and good will amongst people of all walks of life.
“Our mission is actuated not by consideration of reciprocity or reputation but rather our desire to win the pleasure of God through service to his creation,” said Shakeel Ahmed, spokesman for the charity. “We want to help society and to support charitable endeavours and demonstrate loyalty to country and nation. The distinctive feature of the charity walk for peace is that all organisers are volunteers and there are no administrative costs. All operational costs are met by membership subscriptions. Every penny raised goes to charity.”
All charities are invited to the event on Friday, 5 May at Tooting Grove Club Room, Effort Street, SW17 0QR from 6.30pm. Contact Shakeel on 07951 338 204 for more details and find out more on the charity’s website at www.charitywalkforpeace.org.
