Local Muslim group organise multi-faith event
The Tooting Chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslims Women's Association held a multi-faith event on Friday, 19th May at the Tooting Grove Club Room.
Many guests of different backgrounds attended the event, learning about each other and the teachings of Islam whilst enjoying a meal.
The President of the chapter, Meher Shaheen, presented a £500 cheque (raised by the women of the organisation) to CARAS, a local charity which works with young people, families and adults of refugee background to provide practical, educational and social help.
Meher Shaheen said, “This event has one purpose, which is for us to come and sit together in a friendly environment to talk about one goal and shared objective that we hold, which is to promote love, affection, and peace. The ethos of our community is summed up in our motto: ‘Love for all, hatred for none.’ We look forward to working together with you all in the future for humanity and to promote peace.”
