Nursery raises nearly £500 for Save the Children
Conditions were perfect for the children of Funky Owls Nursery to take part in a national charity event for Save the Children, with a Peppa Pig Muddy Walk yesterday.
After a night of heavy rain, Figges Marsh was the ideal setting for a splash in the park, sponsored by all the children’s family and friends. So far, funds have reached £480, with donations still coming in. In advance of the trip, the children had created their own hats to wear on the walk, and local face painter Alejandra Florez Guzman of Beeutiful Faces also donated her time in the morning to decorate the faces of the toddlers and pre-schoolers.
Nursery Director, Emily Blakemore, said: “This was a huge success today and the children had such a great time! As well as fundraising for a fantastic cause and raising a significant amount of money, the children thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and were thrilled with being able to splash around in the mud!
“We set a target of £250 of fundraising but we’ve smashed that out of the park thanks to the generosity of parents, carers, friends and family,” Emily continued, “we are really proud!”
Foxley Cruickshank, 4, said: “I loved having my face painted and it was really fun going out to the park with all my friends. We even walked past my house! We’ve learnt all about raising money for charity and had a great time in the rain.”
