What's going on in Bateman's Yard...?
Bateman’s Yard, formerly Broadway Studios on Tooting High Street, has been causing quite a stir recently...
A sign was recently installed stating “Bateman’s Yard...Curious?” which definitely piqued Tooting’s interest! So we had a look round with Loredana Campisi-Green, PR for Antic London and festival curator for Tootopia.
"We're really excited to be working on a village-square space for the Tooting community and its visitors, and with the help of multi-talented locals, we're hoping to fill it with lots of fun things, ranging from Farmer's Markets to open-air theatre and film screenings – the opportunities are endless!
“Framing the square will be a selection of retail units and dwellings. We're also toying with the idea of a pop-up unit – a revolving kitchen giving growing food businesses the chance to experience serving in a restaurant environment.
“For now, we're eager to hear from local food producers, craftspeople and performers who might see themselves getting involved in events and markets at Bateman's once it's completed.”
Bateman's Yard should be ready by the end of the summer, just in time for this year's Tootopia. "I cant say too much about the event yet,” said Loredana, “but it’s going to bigger than ever, with even more events throughout Tooting. Watch this space!”
