Tooting art exhibit showcases NHS memories
St George's Hospital in Tooting has launched "A Picture of Health", a community development exhibition that shares memories of London NHS workers from the 1950's to the 1970's.
Many workers came from around the world to live in a new country with a very different and often challenging culture. Set to poetry, their memories are illustrated by children from the Alton Primary School in Roehampton and young patients from St George's Hospital.
The exhibition tells the story of resilience, hard work, responsibility and giving care when there was nothing else to give. It is a celebration of the lives of those who were the early backbone of the NHS.
The exhibition runs from 10am to 3.30pm, 19th to 23rd June in the Ingredients Restaurant on the 1st floor of the Lanesborough Wing. More information can be obtained from Simone Farr at WBC sheltered housing services by emailing s.farr@wandsworth.gov.uk
