The Community Fun Day this Saturday in Tooting!
The Community Fun Day on Broadwater Road, now in its ninth year, will bring the whole community together for a day of fun in the sun. Big crowds, from all cultures and backgrounds are expected, probably in the thousands.
Attractions will include fairground rides, inflatables, farm animals, stalls, sports, face painting, crafts, a clown, traditional sideshows, a fire engine and more (Tooting Daily PRSS will have a stall there too!). Food from an array of cultures will be a special feature.
Civic and political leaders attending include Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London; Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, MP for Tooting; Councillor James Madden, the Mayor of Wandsworth; and Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council.
The NHS ‘Health and Well Being Hub’ will offer free health checks and promote healthy lifestyles.
The Fun Day embraces the whole community. Many community groups and charities will showcase what they do. The generations will come together in an ‘oral history’ activity delving into Tooting’s past as older people recount their experiences from WW2 on to younger people. A Black History exhibition will bring the past to life.
The proceeds of the Fun Day will go to St George’s Hospital to support projects for children and the elderly.
The organisers would like to thank their primary sponsors Pearl Chemist Group, Fitness First, Likeminders and GSF Motorworks.
