Tooting's Young Entrepreneurs: Morgan Archer
Continuing our series featuring some of Tooting’s great young entrepreneurs, today we introduce actor and writer, Morgan Archer.
Morgan’s PBM Entertainment business focuses on the writing of screenplays and short films which he then either seeks investment for so that he can produce them himself, or else sells them directly to production companies.
Fresh from having written and produced a radio play entitled Bailey’s Legacy for the V&A Museum as part of their Pink Floyd exhibition, Morgan has also just finished a script for a short film about knife crime in London, which he aims to start producing in August.
“I’ve always loved to act and write and so setting up a production company seemed the right thing to do,” says Morgan. “My passion is for writing British urban dramas and my goal is to one day have a great team behind me to produce these for both TV and short film format”.
One of the ways in which Morgan funds his productions is financing them himself by spread betting in stocks and shares as well as some currency trading. Morgan has also set up PBM Investments, through which he offers advice to those who want to invest in the stock market, via a monthly financial podcast, blog and a ‘Hot Tips’ section which gives stock tips to clients in return for a monthly fee. “The investments business is quite new, but since 2008 I’ve been trading part time and done very well and so thought it would be a good idea to see if I can make a business out of what I know on that side of things,” says the young trader.
Morgan has been supported by Business Launchpad (based in The Trident Business Centre), who have helped him to organise his ideas into a business plan. “The team there keep me honest and we set achievable goals and deadlines for both businesses. I also love coming into the office to hotdesk from time to time, to mix with the other clients that they have,” says Morgan.
So what’s the significance of ‘PBM’ for his company names? “PBM stands for ‘Powerful Beyond Measure’,” revealed Morgan, “and is a quote by spiritual activist Marianne Williamson, that hung on a wall of our house when I was growing up. It inspires me because we should not be limited in this way. It’s time to shine!”
We look forward to watching Morgan bringing more of his productions to life in the months ahead!
