10 years of Tooting Foodival!

The tenth Tooting Foodival is almost upon us and the organisers are promising a celebration of all things home-grown and home-cooked! Join in the fun and bring your family, friends and neighbours – it’s FREE and all are welcome.

The Foodival, run by Transition Town Tooting, highlights the diversity of healthy and sustainable produce that can be grown, cooked and enjoyed in Tooting & nearby. Taking place from 11am to 5pm on Saturday 16th September, here’s what’s happening:

  • Admire the collection of locally grown produce from home growers, allotment holders and local farmers. You will be amazed at what’s grown right on your doorstep.
  • The Big Feast – a live 3-course feast cooked up by chef Volker using locally grown produce for you to enjoy.
  • Top Tooting Cook competition – a competition for local individuals and cooks to demonstrate their talents using local ingredients.
  • Boutique Market Stalls – selling all things local and sustainable from homemade jams to upcycled crafts, plus an observation hive of 16,000 bees – nearly the same as Tooting Ward’s population!
  • Jeni’s Crafty Arts – learn how to make a ladybird and lacewing hotels out of plastic bottles. Kids will love this!
  • Music by artists from The Sound Lounge.
  • The Story of Rewilding – A hands-on and imaginative storytelling event that introduces children to environmental thinking.
  • The Green Stage – three 45-minute workshops talking about:
    • composting and the power of the humble earthworm
    • Autumn and Winter Gardening
    • seed saving and propagation.
  • Spoken Word – around food and growing.
  • Stands discussing local projects including Tooting Community Garden, Wandsworth Food Partnership, Carbon Conversations and much more.
  • Pop-Up Big Beds – a beautiful surprise, courtesy of Share Garden.
