Share Annual Awards Day – celebrating the best of Share

Share Annual Awards Day – celebrating the best of Share

Kavita Bowry, Communications and Development Manager at Share Community with all the details of November’s Share Annual Awards Day at the Wandsworth Civic Centre.

At Share, we focus on what people can do, not what holds them back. And a key focus of our work is to change society’s perceptions about disability. That is, that disabled people can live fulfilled happy lives, they can live independently and they can work – all it takes is a little support and understanding, which, let’s face it, are basic human needs.

Disability can, of course, touch all our lives and it brings with it unexpected, unplanned changes to an otherwise ordinary existence – for yourself and your family. But this doesn’t mean anyone has to stop hoping, dreaming and realising their full potential. And there are plenty of glorious examples all around the world where people have done just that – take our Paralympians or the ‘wobbly’ comedian, Francesca Martinez – just two examples of people letting nothing hold them back.

Everyday students at Share achieve things others often think they can’t and gaining nationally recognised qualifications to boot. We run accredited courses in independent living skills, basic skills (English and maths), digital skills, catering and horticulture, all aimed at building our students’ confidence and enabling them to develop skills for work.

And these are just some of the successes and achievements that we celebrate at Share’s Annual Awards Day, which takes place at the Wandsworth Civic Suite on 7th November 2017.

As well as sharing our students’ triumphs with their families and friends, this day is our chance to connect with our local community, so we’d like to invite you to join us to help us celebrate the best of Share. You’ll see how our students shine and you’ll come away inspired, knowing that each and everyone of us in society can make a difference.

Share’s Annual Awards Day takes place at the Wandsworth Civic Suite on 7th November 2017, from 11am to 3.30pm, with lunch. You can book your place online at here or by emailing or telephoning 020 7801 9821.
