Tooting Networking Event at South Thames College
The third Tooting Business Networking Event took place at South Thames College’s Tooting campus last night.
The events, which are regular collaborations between Tooting Daily PRSS and the Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce, aim to better connect local businesses through networking, feature presentations from guest speakers, and are catered by Tooting food businesses.
The event was introduced by Dave Mauger (Tooting Daily PRSS publisher), who was followed by Steve Pinto, Wandsworth Chamber chief executive. Dave spoke about how Tooting Daily PRSS wants to get the word out about businesses and community groups, as well as their collaboration with DigiLab Tooting, whilst Steve spoke about the benefits of business networking and how the Chamber and Tooting Daily PRSS can help them to grow their audience.
The first guest speakers, Jamie Stevenson and Angela Brown from South Thames College, talked about the Take One programme, which asks businesses to provide employment, an apprenticeship, work placement or similar to a young person from the borough.
Ash Daud of Flexicom Solutions then presented a short piece on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and what businesses need to do to prepare themselves for new legislation in May 2018.
Fantastic food was provided by Don’s Hut (who were applauded when thanked!), a Caribbean eatery on Garratt Lane.
There’ll be another networking event in February. If you’d like to find out more about the Wandsworth Chamber, visit www.wandsworthchamber.org. If you’re a Tooting business that wishes to join the Chamber, you can get 10% off with the code TPRSS1.
