Tooting WI celebrates its 1st birthday!
Tooting WI’s January meeting will see the group celebrate their first birthday.
Since their official creation last January, over 70 women have become members, taking part in a range of meetings involving screen printing, wine tasting, mental health, first aid and self defence.
Becky Warburton, Tooting WI President, said, “After such a successful formation meeting, with 93 women attending, it was great that there was such an appetite for a new group in Tooting. We’ve had a fantastic first year as Tooting WI and I can’t wait to celebrate our first birthday with our wonderful members and to see what 2018 holds for us!”
The group are marking the occasion with a birthday party at their meeting on Wednesday 10th January, giving new members and guests the opportunity to mingle and celebrate with some food, drink and games.
At the meeting, they will be opening their membership for 2018 at £41, which gives women access to the groups 12 monthly meetings, in addition to activities and materials organised by Surrey Federation and the National Federation of WI’s. The group are always looking for new members and are open to women of all ages.
Becky went on to say: “I’ve been really overwhelmed by the feeling of community that has been built by our members over the past 12 months. The WI is not only a great place to learn new skills and take part in new experiences but it also is an opportunity for women to come together, socialise, meet new people and feel part of something amazing.”
The group show no signs of slowing down with an exciting and packed programme for 2018, which will be unveiled at their meeting, as well as a new supper club to join their already popular craft and book clubs.
Guests are welcome to attend the meeting on Wednesday 10th January at 7.30pm at Holy Trinity Church, Trinity Road, SW17 7RH and can sign up at www.tootingwifirstbirthday.eventbrite.co.uk. More information can be found at www.tootingwi.org.uk or by email at tootingwi@gmail.com.
