Our Community Partner, Tooting-based Kate Wilson of Hello Mums, with some rather astonishing facts about London parents, what they spend and what they (and their kids) get up to!

At Hello Mums it is crucial for us to understand where you, as a parent, come from. When I became a mum two years ago, I decided to put a report together for parents in London to show how amazing we are. Here are some surprising facts for you:

83% of us are working parents.

We are hooked on Facebook.

Our children spend more time outdoors than the national average.

We pay around £1500/month for the nurseries we send our little ones to.

Looking at the current rates, a nanny in Tooting usually charges a minimum of £10(net)/hour, whilst those families jointly employing a nanny are looking at paying a minimum of £12(net)/hour. The cost of public childcare (both childminder and nursery) is around £6.80/hour and the most cost-effective solutions are the mother’s help and au-pair who tend to live with the family they work for. 

And we really need to go on more date nights!
