Introducing James Barbers – Tooting born and bred!
Introducing James Crowe, owner of James Barbers, recently opened in Tooting Market, following on from his successful shop in Wimbledon, opened in 2008.
I’m Tooting born and bred! I was born in St George’s Hospital, I went to school at St Anselm’s School in Tooting Bec and my dad Jimmy owns and runs the Ramble Inn, so we live and breathe Tooting!
I’m so glad to have opened a second premises in the area that I grew up. I’ve been looking for the right premises in Tooting for two years, and so jumped at the chance when a space in Tooting Market opened up. It’s a fantastic location as it’s in the heart of the community. I’ve been visiting the market for as long as I can remember, so it’s great to be part of such a wonderful space with so many fantastic and diverse traders.
We have a great team of driven and passionate barbers who I’m proud to work with. We want to provide an authentic barbers experience, right down to our barber’s pole and vintage Belmont chairs! I’m also really excited to launch Crowes Nest, our own range of men's hair and beard products.
The response so far in Tooting has been great. We’ve been made to feel very welcome, and there’s a great community spirit in the market. I’m often grabbing lunch and coffee in various places in Tooting Market, such as Brickwood and Mina’s Grill, the fantastic Portuguese café. Boom Bap do a cracking burger, and their new premises look great! You’ll also find me in the Ramble Inn (even though I don’t drink).
We’re looking forward to welcoming Tooting to our new shop and hope to make it a community hub, as we’ve done in Wimbledon. No appointment needed – just pop in and say hi!
