Why should you vote in the Wandsworth council elections?

The Wandsworth Council Borough Elections take place on Thursday 3 May this year. Residents in Wandsworth will vote to elect 60 councillors to represent the 20 wards across the borough.

Voters in the constituency of Tooting will elect candidates in the seven wards that cover the area:

Full details of the candidates and polling stations can be found on the Wandsworth Council website. If you’re not sure what ward you’re in or who your current councillors are, you can find out here.

Why should you vote?

Wandsworth Council is responsible for providing local services and facilities, and voting therefore gives you a say in how these are run.

Your elected councillors represent you and your interests. Wandsworth Council is responsible for:

  • Benefits and council tax
  • Council housing
  • Education services
  • Electoral registration
  • Environmental health
  • Leisure and recreation facilities
  • Libraries
  • Local planning
  • Parks and public places
  • Pests, pollution and antisocial behaviour
  • Regulation of local business
  • Roads, footpaths, streetcleaning and parking
  • Social services
  • Rubbish and recycling
