Autumn Supper Club at St Nick's in Tooting
Ed Veale, Pastoral Assistant at St Nicholas Church in Tooting, reflects on their Tootopia Jazz concert and their upcoming Autumn Supper Club.
Thank you to the many people from Tooting and beyond who came along to St Nicholas for our Jazz on the Lawn event last Sunday, hosted as part of the Tootopia weekend. We had a fantastic time (indoors!) with Captain Cutlass entertaining the kids, professional musicians playing relaxing and soulful jazz, and stacks of homemade cakes to feast upon.
We also advertised our Autumn Supper Club, which starts on Wednesday 17 October and runs for 5 weeks. This is an opportunity to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal (with a different country-theme each week), as well as interesting table discussion about the big questions of life and faith.
At each Wednesday evening, over dinner, we’ll read and discuss a short section of the gospel of Mark, one of the eye-witness biographies of the life of Christ. This is a relaxed way to explore the Christian faith – and ask and say any questions, doubts, comments or objections you have – and to examine things for ourselves. In an age of ‘fake news’ and ‘post-truth’ claims, the gospel of Mark states in its very first line that it tells a story about “good news.” Please do come along – we’d love to have you at the first evening - and see what you think.
