The Trident in Tooting support 'Pass The Smile'
The Trident Centre in Tooting is supporting “Pass The Smile”, a project set up to help charities supporting the parents and children affected by the form of cancer known as Rhabdomyosarcoma.
In June 2018, Ben Crowther (aged 6) was diagnosed with a rare form of Rhabdomyosarcoma. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment under the care of the incredible NHS staff of the Paediatric Oncology team (Ward 18: Oncology) at Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH).
Since diagnosis, Ben’s family have received invaluable support from several charities as they start to understand Ben’s condition and how best to support him. The most notable charities include Molly Olly’s for their ‘Olly The Brave’ series of toys and books explaining cancer and it’s treatment to children, and CLIC Sargent (Birmingham) for their practical assistance with the non-medical aspects of young lives with cancer.
Pass The Smile wishes to help raise funds to increase the understanding of this disease so that kinder, gentler treatments and cures can be developed. They want to support the work of two charities that specifically fund research into Rhabdomyosarcoma: Children with Cancer UK and The Chris Lucas Trust. During Ben’s long road to recovery, they know that smiles, laughter and general silliness is helping him through, so they’re raising money, generating pledges and increasing awareness.
The Trident Centre are holding a fundraising raffle, which you can enter at reception. Prizes have been kindly donated by Morleys Tooting, James Barbers, We Brought Beer, K&K Stationers, Spice Village and more.
