A message from Ali Jaffri from Idara-e-Jaaferiya Mosque and Community Centre in Tooting, on the terrorist attacks in Christchurch.

“When afflicted with calamity, they say: "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return”
Quran 2:156

Idara-e-Jaaferiya Mosque and Community Centre Tooting strongly condemns the horrific terrorist acts inside Noor Mosque and Linwood Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday 15th March 2019 on Muslim worshippers.

We also acknowledge and appreciate all messages of support and solidarity to Idara-e-Jaaferiya from faith organisations and our neighbours. All the kind words that have been said, serve as a strong reassurance that in times of need and whenever there is injustice, we will all stand together.

These attacks are extreme examples of Islamophobia which very unfortunately exists and is on the rise in various parts of the world. Let’s be very clear that Islam is a peaceful religion and teaches all Muslims to say “Salamun Alaikum” or “Peace be upon you” when meeting others. Harming any living being has no place in Islam.

We pray Allah, the most glorified, the most high, gives patience to the victims’ families. Our thoughts are with them in these difficult times.
