St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has published a new five year strategy for the organisation today, Tuesday 23 April (St George’s Day).
The new strategy – Delivering outstanding care, every time (2019-2024) - is designed to give everyone connected with St George’s clarity about their aims and ambitions for the future.
The new strategy will drive decision-making across the two main sites – at St George’s Hospital in Tooting and at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton – plus services the Trust runs in the community.
The Trust’s new strategy is based on four key priorities:
- building strong foundations
- delivering excellent local services
- working in closer collaboration with partner organisations
- providing leading specialist healthcare for the communities the Trust serves.
The Trust will aim to continue to provide and improve the many different hospital services local people have come to depend on, such as maternity and emergency care.
St George’s will also still provide services for patients of all ages who regularly access services at both St George’s and Queen Mary’s.
The Trust Board of St George’s has, however, decided to prioritise and channel investment into the development of their cancer, children’s, neurosciences, and major trauma services, whilst also supporting teams central to delivery of these services, in particular diagnostics and critical care.
Jacqueline Totterdell, Chief Executive of St George’s, said, “Our new strategy has been shaped by patients, local people, and our staff – with over 500 people attending 26 engagement events over the past 9 months.
“I am grateful to those of you who attended these events, plus the many others who shared honest views about our emerging strategy, and where you think we should focus our energies.
“Your support is a vital part of our success, and your desire for us to success – and for St George’s to thrive – has come through loud and clear.”
“The end result is a strategy that will serve us well over the next five years, and get us closer to delivering outstanding care, every time for our patients, staff, and the communities we serve.”
