Tooting Town launches Business Improvement District (BID) campaign

Tooting Town launches Business Improvement District (BID) campaign

A month-long campaign celebrating Tooting independent businesses has been unveiled by Tooting Town BID, a proposed Business Improvement District (BID) company for the town centre.

Over the past 12 months, businesses in Tooting have taken part in local consultation to explore plans for a BID in the town centre. The research has uncovered a range of projects and ideas businesses would like to see delivered.

Tooting Town BID identified the need for greater, more regular marketing projects for local independent businesses. A month-long marketing campaign is currently running which aims to demonstrate the benefits a BID could bring to the area, with a particular focus on raising the profile of its independent businesses through video, social media, and printed materials.

Tooting is home to over 250 independent businesses, from fashion brands to hair and beauty, pubs, bars, cafes, restaurants, and a variety of grocery stores catering to a vast array of tastes.

Commenting on the new initiative, Roi Mengelgrein, Tooting Market Manager and Chair of Tooting Town BID Steering Group said, “We are delighted to be able to celebrate our independent community in Tooting this month, showcasing a new, vibrant brand alongside it. BIDs have proven to be popular models in the UK. If successful, Tooting Town BID would become the 5th BID in Wandsworth Borough. Our marketing campaign includes lots of exciting online and offline promotion, and ties in perfectly with the celebrations of Diwali. We look forward to delivering more events and promotional activity over the next five years.”

Tooting Town BID are encouraging businesses to support the marketing campaign, with more information about the BID available through the BID’s website.

A BID ballot will be held in Tooting from 8th November to 5th December 2019. See www.tootingtownbid.co.uk for more information.
