Tooting Community Fun Day donates £3750 to St George’s
£3,750 was donated to the St George’s Hospital Charity from the proceeds of the Community Fun Day held in Broadwater Road, Tooting on 13th July 2019, at a ceremony at Gatton Muslim Primary School on 7th November.
The Fun Day is organised by the Al Risalah Trust schools, St Augustine's Church, Tooting and the Balham and Tooting Community Association (BATCA). Their representatives, Maulana Maksud Gangat, Arshad Daud, and Rev Andrew Davey praised the neighbourly spirit the Fun Day embodies.
The donation will benefit both children and older people. It will fund a new cardiac monitor for children’s wards and contribute to the cost of a specialised chair to promote the recovery of elderly patients by reducing prolonged spells in bed.
Vivien Gunn, Head of Grants at the St George’s Hospital Charity said, “Here at St George’s Hospital Charity we would like to say a massive thank you to BATCA, St Augustine’s Church, and the Al Risalah Education Trust for all the incredible hard work they put into organising and holding the Community Fun Day, which raised an amazing £3,750! The day itself is a fantastic celebration of Tooting’s people and truly brings together the entire community.”
Fundraising for St George’s has been at the heart of the Community Fun Day since it began in 2008. Over the years, more than £28,000 has been donated.
