Domestic Abuse – where to get support

Domestic Abuse – where to get support

| by Tooting Newsie

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on victims of domestic abuse, with abuse escalating and support networks cut off. Tooting-based charity Hestia have compiled a list of resources where victims of domestic abuse can get support and information.

Hestia's free Bright Sky app provides information and resources for anyone experiencing domestic abuse or those concerned about someone they know. This includes a unique UK-wide directory of specialist domestic abuse support services with contact details, and nationwide helplines that are available 24/7.

The app also includes questionnaires to assess the safety of a relationship, plus a section on dispelling myths around domestic and sexual abuse. Bright Sky is also available as a website, featuring many of the app's key features, including the directory of specialist support services. To access the app & website, visit

UK SAYS NO MORE's Safe Spaces are available in all Boots stores, Superdrug, Morrisons and Well Pharmacies, as well as hundreds of other independent pharmacies across the UK. Anyone experiencing domestic abuse can ask to use the consultation room in participating pharmacies, where they can safely call a helpline or support service. People can find their nearest Safe Space at

Online Safe Spaces are also available on selected corporate websites, including Royal Mail, Post Office, Thames Water and Parcelforce.
